Before submitting
The Wild Rose Press interacts digitally, so comfort with digital tools is an important part of working together.
Authors communicate with editors primarily through email and email attachments. Our manuscript review and editing process relies heavily on Track Changes and inserted comments, generally using Microsoft Word or a compatible Mac application.
Authors also use online tools for cover-art decisions, contracts, royalty payments, and other parts of the publishing process. Reliable email access and a willingness to learn new systems help everything move smoothly.
We recommend checking your spam folder regularly. Messages sent to Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail accounts can occasionally be filtered, blocked, or delayed.

Find the right department
Each department accepts multiple forms of fiction. Review the descriptions carefully before identifying the best fit for your query.
Contemporary
Sweet and clean stories with no inappropriate language. In romance, intimacy occurs behind closed doors. Think of the tone and content of a Hallmark movie.
Contemporary
Contemporary stories ranging from sensual to erotic. Contemporary fiction and women’s fiction may also be a good fit for this department.
Suspense
Our murder, mystery, and thriller category includes romantic suspense, cozy mysteries, action and adventure, and thrillers across multiple heat levels.
Other worlds
We welcome supernatural stories featuring creatures and elements beyond the ordinary, including fae, vampires, dragons, shapeshifters, psychics, witches, and more.
We also consider science fiction, steampunk, and futuristic stories, with a particular interest in romance featuring an HEA or HFN ending.
Earlier eras
Historical romance must have a happy-ever-after ending. Love scenes may range from sweet to erotic, but may not include forced seduction, rape, or visible drug use. Historical accuracy is essential.
We consider women’s fiction, mainstream fiction, and young-adult fiction. Real events and people must be portrayed accurately, but real historical figures cannot be the main characters or primary drivers of the story.
We are not currently seeking stories set between 1900 and 2000, although specific wartime stories may be considered.
