02 Who files the copyright?
The Wild Rose Press does not file a copyright registration for your book through our publishing programs. We want authors to retain their rights and believe the decision to formally register a work should remain with the author.
We include a copyright notice on the publishing-history page of your book. We also retain records relating to your work from the time you first contact us, should you ever need evidence of your publishing history.

03 What is an ISBN, and who purchases it?
An ISBN—or International Standard Book Number—is a unique product identifier used by publishers, booksellers, libraries, online retailers, and other participants in the book supply chain.
Each ISBN identifies a specific title, edition, and format. In the United States, ISBNs are supplied by Bowker.
The Wild Rose Press purchases ISBNs for the digital and print editions of books published through our standard program. Authors in an assisted-publishing program may provide their own ISBN.
04 What is The Wild Rose Press publishing process?
Through our standard publishing program, a contracted manuscript moves through several collaborative stages.
-
1
Contract
The manuscript is accepted and contracted.
-
2
Editing
The author works with an editor to make the manuscript the strongest book it can be.
-
3
Cover artwork
Artwork and design for the book’s cover are developed during the editorial process.
-
4
Production
Final digital and print-ready distribution files are created.
-
5
Release and distribution
A release date is established and the finished book is distributed worldwide.
Assisted-publishing projects are handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on the services required and how involved the author wants to be.
05 Are your books available at my local bookstore?
Our books are available for bookstores to order through our distributors or directly through us. However, our titles are not routinely stocked on the shelves of brick-and-mortar stores.
If you want a particular title, ask your local bookstore whether it can special-order the book using its ISBN.
06 Do you print all your books?
Across our publishing programs, we generally produce print editions for books longer than 45,000 words.
Our standard print size is 5 × 8 inches. Books below the word-count minimum might not be long enough to produce a suitable printed edition in that format.
Print editions published by The Wild Rose Press are non-returnable.
07 What kind of marketing do you do?
We are a publisher rather than a publicity agency, so much of our marketing promotes The Wild Rose Press and our complete catalog.
We use newsletters, social platforms, and other promotional opportunities to build awareness and generate interest in our books. We continually seek new ways to market our catalog and assist authors with their own efforts.
Authors also play an important role in promoting their books. Word of mouth remains one of the strongest forms of advertising, and no one knows a book or its ideal audience better than its author.
